Photography is something that accompanies almost every day of my life and I never tire of the opportunity to take my camera out in the hope of capturing something special. Many of us feel the magnetic draw of the sea and the ‘Jurassic Coast’ of Lyme Regis in Dorset boasts one of our most beautiful coastlines. I am fortunate that this part of England is my home and as a result, features heavily in my images.
The natural world is a font of inspiration and while our landscape diminishes, I try and capture its untypical beauty - from flora to fungi, or trees that have watched over centuries of change and the skies that have a profound effect on our daily moods. Of particular interest is Lepidoptera - our Butterflies and Moths, which are so often ignored or overlooked. They are an important, magical part of our ecology and an increasing number are joining the endangered list.
In addition, I always enjoy the opportunity of portraiture. Here, I try and capture people that are ‘in context’ to their lives, as opposed to staged or studio photography.
